Cost estimate FAQs

Our price estimator tool provides the hospital (performing the test) and professional (reading/interpretation) charges related to a service.

Professional charges, if billed by a non-WellSpan provider, are included to give you an idea of the amount of the charge, but those charges will not be collected by WellSpan.

Surgical estimates are based on average claims data to include all related operating room charges.

Anesthesia charges are included only if WellSpan bills for anesthesia.

Your charges may vary, and this estimate isn’t a guarantee of final billed charges. Estimates are based on your benefits and information provided to us.

Please contact your health plan for more information about your out-of-pocket costs and to determine if this is a covered service. Final billed charges may vary from estimated charges due to your medical condition, unknown circumstances or complications, final diagnosis and changes to the procedure.

Some screening tests, such as mammograms and colonoscopies, are covered 100% by your health plan. Please check with your health plan if you have any questions.

Yes, once your estimate has been created in MyWellSpan, you can save the information for future reference.

An estimate is valid for 30 days from the date it was created. Due to benefit changes, after 30 days a new estimate must be created.

Diagnostic-related grouping (DRG) charges are averages for claims billed to Medicare. If the number of claims were 10 or fewer, the data was not reported. The average charge does not include any professional charges.
