Our dental externship program offers a personalized experience for you to accelerate your education. You can choose the length of your externship for a stay ranging from one week up to four weeks.
Your externship will provide a holistic learning environment, including various clinical settings.
You’ll have a full schedule of patients in our newly remodeled outpatient Hoodner Dental Center clinic each day, including emergency patient walk-ins. Additionally, you’ll be able to engage in clinical care in the operating room setting at WellSpan York Hospital.
Our patient population is diverse, and you may have opportunities to treat high-acuity or medically compromised patients. All dental care and procedures you perform will be aided by one of our dental assistants and supervised by an attending physician.
During your externship, you’ll also be invited to participate in our lecture schedule, journal clubs, treatment plan sessions and clinical conferences attended by our full-time dental residents.
Our dental program’s faculty includes a program director, an assistant program director, general practice attending physicians and an oral surgeon, as well as a full staff of dental hygienists, dental assistants, and receptionists.
